Charles J. Catt - CEO of Challenge Group Inc



Charles J. Catt has more than 50 years’ experience in the London and International insurance and reinsurance industry. He was the managing director of the three UK companies of the NAC Re Corporation until its merger with XL Capital in 1999 and since then has been heavily involved in consultancy activities. Charles a member of many insurance and reinsurance-related institutions such as the Property & Casualty Technical Committee of the International Underwriting Association of London, the London Matters and Research Studies Committees of the Insurance Institute of London, British Insurance Law Association, Chairman of the Reinsurance training and Education Council and sits on various market committees.

Charles is focused on general consultancy, arbitration, mediation, expert witness, training and recruitment requirements in the reinsurance and insurance sectors. Charles is a founding member and Chairman of Challenge Group and now devotes most of his activities towards directing its positive expansion and development. He is also Chairman of GeoVera Reinsurance Ltd of the Caymans and Treasurer of the Langbourn Ward Club in the City of London.

Ashley Prager - Risk Resolutions Limited


ashley-pragerAshley founded Risk Resolutions Ltd which is a London market based consultancy with over 25 years experience offering claims solutions on behalf of Insurers/ Reinsurers and brokers.

Ashley has been involved in claims within the London Market since 1985, and is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London Market Faculty, Faculty of Claims, a member of the British Insurance Law Association and is a qualified member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Andreas Bachofner - Shires Partnership Limited

Andreas (Res) is co-owner of Shires Partnership Ltd where he focuses on consulting in insurance/reinsurance underwriting and structuring solutions combining insurance and bank financing.
Prior to forming Shires Partnership, Res was a Member of Senior Management at Swiss Re with various profit centre responsibilities in Europe and the US. He was leading teams in Zurich and London writing business for US, Bermuda, English Caribbean and UK clients. From 1999 to 2001, he was a Member of the Executive Board of Swiss Re UK.
Currently, he is a Non-executive Board Member of Clavis Re Switzerland and chairs the UK Charity Children's Relief Bethlehem.
Res holds an MBA in Financial Services & Insurance and a BA in Economics.

David Brackenbury - David Brackenbury Associates Limited


David Brackenbury photoDavid spent 26 years in claims management in the Lloyd's Broking world, where he specialised in negotiating large and complex claims with Insurers and Reinsurers in the Lloyd's and London Market. He set up David Brackenbury Associates Ltd. in 2006. Currently, David represents clients in the USA, UK, Mexico and Latin America, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the MENA region, Hong Kong, Israel, Turkey, Greece, Italy and Sub-Saharan Africa. He also accepts instructions from Insurers and Reinsurers for investigative and audit work. He has a strong interest in loss prevention and risk management practices. David has specific expertise in Specie, Cargo and Marine Insurance and Reinsurance claims matters and has had extensive seagoing experience in the Royal Naval Reserve and as an ocean going yachtsman. David is a Practicing Associate of the Academy of Experts.

Gerard Dupré - MCD Management Solutions Limited

Consultants (Reinsurance), a company founded in 1998 which provide insurance and reinsurance related services to a select number of large European and North American companies. Gerard has 30 years experience in the european reinsurance market, one third of which was with the Winterthur Swiss Insurance Group. In 1990 he set up Atropos Management Services Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Winterthur Swiss, as the dedicated vehicle to run off the substantial liabilities of the solvent stamp companies of H.S.Weavers- and C.R.Driver Agencies. Gerard is skillful multi-lingual negotiator who specialises in run off, dispute resolution and commutations.

Robert Harrison


Robert HarrisonRobert conducts national and international insurance and reinsurance disputes on behalf of a variety of clients (underwriters, brokers and agents) predominantly regarding coverage issues across a broad spectrum of policy types. His practice encompasses both litigation and arbitration matters.

In addition, he advises on regulatory and compliance issues and run-off strategies. He is also experienced in major complex loss casualty claims, including oil and chemical losses and rail disasters. He has, as a result, been retained to advise upon disaster management planning for both the “Heathrow Express” and Heathrow Terminal 5 projects at the instruction of BAA. Robert has acted for insurers in professional indemnity claims, including accountants, auditors, surveyors, architects and solicitors.

Robert is qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales and The Republic of Ireland.

Stephen Carter - Carter Perry Bailey LLP


Stephen CarterStephen has acted in insurance, reinsurance and agency disputes for over 30 years. He handles a wide range of London Market and international matters, both in litigation and arbitration, and advises on coverage issues, contract construction and regulatory matters. His work spans both the live and the run-off markets.

Stephen is rated in Chambers Guide as a leader in the field of reinsurance and in Legal 500 as a leader in the field of insurance and reinsurance. He is listed as an expert on insurance and reinsurance by “Who’s Who Legal”.

Stephen is an ARIAS (UK) accredited arbitrator and is qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (through its international arbitration module). Stephen also handles commercial litigation and arbitration.
