European Run Off Roundtable – Paris October 31st 2006 - 2006-11-24
At the European Run–Off Round table hosted by Global Reinsurance in October AirSP members were well represented! WASA, Optimum Risk Research and CMGL all participated in the debate.
Both Charlotte Boij of WASA and Françoise Gelot of Optimum Risk Research took an active part in the discussion on the developments in the Run-Off industry, rapidly assuming an independent and increasingly important identity in the Reinsurance market. Françoise adds the following comment on the changes taking place in the sector: “I have not emphasized enough the fact that in my view we started the second generation of run-offs in 2005 having left the first generation of run-offs to deal with APH and large insurance and reinsurance losses in the main; the second generation is looking at capturing good run off business due to mergers/restructuring or discontinued lines of business due to changes in strategy, and of course absorbing some of the residual old losses, but with an aim at profit! “
