Monte Carlo Rendez Vous - Global Re were once again in Monaco this year for the annual Insurance & Reinsurance Rendez Vous. This year, the 5th that we have attended, Global Re were out in force with 5 members of the team in attendance. We participated in more meetings than ever before - nearly 40! - with reinsurers from such diverse locations such as Algeria, Portugal, USA, Korea, Romania, Bulgaria. All in all Monte Carlo was very hard work but particularly productive and beneficial for Global Re's clients.
Mumbai - For the first time representatives of Global Re attended the bi-annual FAIR Conference in Mumbai in Septemberwhich attracted some 550 delegates from the Asian, African and Middle East Countries. Global Re had appointments with some 20 companies including some senior officials from the majority of the Indian Companies.
Global Re will return to India in January 2006 ad will meet with the main companies in their respective cities.
October
Bermuda - Global Re returned to Bermuda in October as a number of Global Re's clients were seeking to finalise commutations with reinsurers on the island. At the same time we also were present at the Hawksmere Conference. The conference was not as well attended by the risk carriers as in previous years, however, the weather was fantastic which was particularly welcome before heading off to the AIRROC Conference in New Jersey.
AIRROC - Global Re attended the first AIRROC Conference in New Jersey this October which was a resounding success. In excess of 280 delegates were in attendance including US Risk Carriers which have been noticeably absent from this type of event in the past. Global Re's schedule was again full of meetings with clients, reinsurers and associates. We found this event highly enjoyable and also found time to visit clients in New York. A great event and we are looking forward to next year!!
For 2006 we will look to add the XV Insurance Congress of Developing Countries to the list of conferences Global Re attend on behalf of clients. This year the Congress will be in Egypt during February and will attract delegates from the Middle East, African and Asian Countries. Though this type of conference is very difficult to break into, with the strength of Global Re's Worldwide relationships they prove to be very productive events.
And as the old adage goes the more you put in the more you get out!!
